Kitchen unit refresh using limed oak technique
This large, bespoke, oak kitchen was originally done in a 2 part hardened resin with a slightly chalky finish. The orange tones in the wood were prominent and it had started to look a little dated.

The client asked for a limed oak effect, and said he could remember a kitchen he had in the 80s where the grain of the wood had a slight blue tone. Unfortunately he was unable to find me any reference photos, so I began experimenting with different waxes to see if I could create the right effect.
After a few samples the client selected his desired finish and we booked the job in.

This was a real labour of love, the existing resin coating was extremely difficult to remove, making the prep process quite lengthy.
With consistency and a lot of long hours me and my team pulled it out of the bag and the liming wax was applied.
