Same but different. Pirate themed.
Before the redesign, The Jolly Roger Barbershop had a great pirate-inspired theme but lacked some of the personality and finishing touches that could elevate the space and make it stand out. Brad, the owner, wanted to keep the same overall feel but elevate the design with fresh updates that would bring a new vibe, while still maintaining the essence of a nautical, pirate-themed barbershop. After discussing his vision, we were excited to get started on giving the space a makeover that would feel familiar, yet with a whole new energy.
The main change came from the colour scheme. We shifted the palette from beige to a rich bronze-green. This colour not only gives the space a more contemporary feel but also helps accentuate the red leather chairs, the couch, and the sink area. The striking contrast makes the traditional barber's elements feel more vibrant and dynamic.
Next, we reupholstered the sink area with new leather, replacing the worn-out upholstery from before. The refreshed leather complements the vintage theme while adding a touch of modern comfort. We also added brass beading and corner plates, which provide a polished and refined look that ties into the overall pirate theme without feeling overdone.

The artwork in the space was rearranged to better fit the layout. It’s now more balanced and deliberate, helping to make the space feel organised while still allowing the artwork to be a focal point. To elevate the atmosphere, we added small but significant touches, like fragrance, string lighting, and a new shelf. These additions not only create a warmer and more inviting space but also add subtle layers of detail that customers will appreciate.
Finally, we introduced an eye-level product display, a new feature Brad didn’t have before. This not only showcases the products in a visually appealing way but also gives waiting clients something to engage with while they relax.
The result is a space that keeps the signature pirate vibe while looking polished, inviting, and thoughtful. It’s a fresh take on The Jolly Roger Barbershop, staying true to its roots while giving it a bold new look.
